Purpose of post

To contribute to the daily operations of the Unit of ICT in Health Education at the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) and strengthen UNESCO IITE’s role in developing and promoting ICT-enhanced solutions for HIV and health and well-being education.

Main responsibilities

Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO IITE and direct supervision of the Head of the Unit of ICT in Health Education, the incumbent shall perform the following tasks:

  • Assist the Unit of ICT in Health Education with the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the programmes and projects to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of the programme management, delivery and accomplishment of programme goals and objectives.
  • Collect, preliminarily analyze and present information on innovative approaches and good practices in the field of HIV, health and well-being education and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to support the Unit in the programme planning and implementation.
  • Assist with the preparation/finalization of project concept papers, work plans, terms of references, contractual agreements, reports and publications. Collect and prepare supporting documents for contractual agreements and reports, other administrative forms. Monitor contract execution, timely submission of deliverables by the contractors, liaise with them and take appropriate actions if needed.
  • At the request of the Supervisor, conduct project planning and monitoring visits, attend project activities, meetings, conferences, workshops organized by UNESCO and its partners, deliver presentations and/or conduct training.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of different events and activities (conferences, workshops, ICT-enhanced online and offline media campaigns, other) organized by the Unit and implementing partners.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to ensure smooth operation, relevance and regular update of UNESCO IITE supported web-resources on HIV, health and well-being education.
  • Assist with the programme communication related to the Unit activities including through external communication channels to contribute to IITE’s visibility.
  • Undertake any other related tasks or assignments requested by the Director of the UNESCO IITE or the Head of the Unit.


  • Higher education in social areas such as education, social sciences, public relations, information and communication technologies, or a related field;
  • At least two years of relevant working experience with educational, governmental, non-governmental or international organizations in the area of education, preferably health and well-being education or ICT in education;
  • Experience of working with media, including social media for programme implementation and communication;
  • Strong computer skills; proficient user MS Office and other software; basic user of Graphic design software, strong web search and social media skills;
  • Proven competency to:
    • Work in a team in a multicultural environment;
    • Integrity and fairness, cultural, gender, religion, nationality and age sensitivity;
    • Dedication to the Vision, Mission and strategic goals of UNESCO;
    • Good interpersonal and organizational skills;
    • Communicate effectively and persuasively, orally and in writing;
    • Ability to manage priorities in order to meet tight deadlines;
    • Knowledge of the functioning of international organizations and/or the UN system would be an asset.


  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Russian is required.

Conditions of employment

  • UNESCO Service Contract until 31 December 2018. Further extension of contract is subject to continuation of related project and availability of funds.
  • Monthly salary of $1,700 USD payable in Russian rubles. Probationary period is two months.
  • UNESCO is a non-smoking Organization.
